Install Vin Scanner
- Connect VIN scanner to computer
- Unzip
this driver on
the customers system. Use
Installx86.bat or Installx64.bat depending on if the customer is 32-bit or 64-bit.
Configure Vin Scanner
- Browse to
C:\ACR\SMS\PROG\Custom\VINscanner
- Double-click acrVINscanner.exe
- Click on "Scanner
Setup"
- Have the customer scan the first barcode for "Reset
Scanner Defaults." It should beep a few times. When it is done
beeping, place it back in the cradle and it should then beep some more. When
it stops beeping, take it out and continue. If the scanner just emits a
3 beep after you do this, try re-doing the same steps but when you place it
in the cradle, pull the trigger while in cradle, then continue.
- Scan the 2nd barcode (Install Scanner.)
- Close the scanner setup window.
- Click "Configure/Test"
- Click the button that says Click here to begin
scanner configuration.
- Scan the test VIN numbers until the scanner comport is found.
- Once comport is found, click on Continue
- Click "Scanner Setup"
- Scan barcodes #3 and #4.
- Close the scanner setup window.
- Click on Live Mode
Using the VIN Scanner
Scan a VIN...
- If the VIN is for an existing customer/vehicle, it will create a
ticket automatically
- If the VIN is for a new customer/vehicle: add customer
information, when entering in vehicle info you will be prompted with a
window of scanned VIN numbers. Select the vehicle from the list.
- If the VIN is for an existing customer/new vehicle: search for
the customer, add new vehicle. You will be prompted with the scanned
VIN numbers to choose the vehicle.
